Text: Alif Baa with DVDs: Introductions to Arabic Letters and Sounds
Location: M.E.C.C.A. (4 West 43rd Street, Suite 316, New York, NY 10036)
A twelve week beginning Arabic course that aims to introduce students to the Arabic alphabet and script with proper pronunciation, emphasizing reading, writing and listening. This can help students read the Qur'an in Arabic and prepare them for further Arabic language courses. Using the popular Alif Baa book, each class will cover a unit where students will learn a group of letters and their pronunciations, practice in listening and recognizing letters, as well as writing them. There are no pre-requisites for this class but students will be expected to prepare diligently for each class, completing the listening drills and writing exercises at home in order to optimize the benefit of class.
Teacher: Ebadur Rahman memorized the Qur'an at age 15 in New York City. After graduating from high school, Ebad moved to California to study at the Zaytuna Institute's seminary program where he completed a four year program in Arabic and Islamic sciences.
